state of the nation 2020

Spent a different new years this time away from the madness, chaos and loud music in the city in the name of celebrations, spending time in the hinder lands and the remotest hamlets of TN and Andhra to understand the life there firsthand and oh boy what an experience and revelation.

All the lies about slump and joblessness by news and politicians lie exposed the country side is busting at seams with greenery allover thanks to the bountiful rains this year and people prosperous and well off.

The normal rural scene of bullock carts  walking peasants and tatched and tiled houses are no more. The new scene is bikes ridden with one hand and mobile on the other clad is lungi/jeans and pompedore hairstyles booze and cigarette in the mouth all being used simultaneously.  beautiful traditional tiled houses are replaced with tastelessly build architecture-less boxy houses painted with florescent colours.

I cant believe the number of motorbikes that buzz about like swarms of bees all over the hamlets all with their lungies and mobiles on their ears all the time. Not 1 or 2 every one from the farm worker to the ladies who plant and trash paddy or their 10 year old kids underage riding and never put their foot down always buzzing about on bikes and scooters with mobiles in their ears even on those single lane country roads which are better quality roads than in bangalore. The paddy fields are lined with motorbikes parked along the border of farm workers. They even use bikes to reach the pumpset and kammakarai to relieve themselves. Add to that the tractors trailers, share autos and force10 jeeps used for the more elderly between hamlets.

Not to mention the infrastructure with ring roads and concrete roads for every town and village and smooth highways mostly(strangely the National Highways are in taters at places but state highways and countru roads are butter smooth) albeit with dangerous speed bumps all over making them  painful to use . Even the remotest hamlets with no human presence for 10s of kilometers in between, near belum caves in Andhra have bike showrooms....

As in the cities noise pollution with loud speakers all over any time of the day with no sense of disturbance of peoples personal space is another national problem.

Only issue with this culture is with absolutely no education and rules and modernity before basic civilization or culture(thanks to the stupid gangster movies there are no more innocent looking simpleton peasants but thugs all over) its chaos of the highest order with no basic road rules and vehicles being ridden and parked in  all possible directions on the road with no safety or age restrictions and muscle, might and locals ganging up being the only rule of jungle. On the TN side it was just a little better when it comes to chaos. I am wondering where this populist democracy of appeasement and chaos heading. A dystopian madmax anarchy....?
